Public comment sought on CDBG grant project report

Projects in Marysville to upgrade low-income housing units, provide housing assistance to homeless and at-risk individuals and families, and allow low-income seniors and people with disabilities to remain in their homes were the most successful local examples receiving Community Development Block Grant funds last year.

A draft report evaluating local projects’ effectiveness in meeting goals and objectives in 2015 is available for public review and comment. The report, called CAPER (Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report), provides the federal government and local residents an opportunity to evaluate the overall progress of the CDBG Program.

Review the draft report:
• Online at http://www.marysvillewa.gov/434/Community-Development-Block-Grants
• At Marysville Community Development, 80 Columbia Ave.
• At the City Clerk’s Office, Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave.
• At Marysville Public Library, 6120 Grove St.

Provide public comment by Monday, Sept. 12:
• By mail to 80 Columbia Ave., Marysville WA 98270 (deadline 4 p.m. Sept. 12)
• By email to ahess@marysvillewa.gov (deadline 4 p.m. Sept. 12)
• In person at City Council public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Marysville City Hall.

The draft report will be made available in a format accessible to persons with disabilities upon request.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program provides federal grants to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and expanding economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income persons. The City reviews applications and awards funds to eligible applicants for activities that meet established criteria.
