Sept. 11 ceremony at Marysville Library

Marysville Fire and Police personnel will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony open to the public.

The brief program begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Police and Firefighters’ Memorial in front of the Marysville Public Library, 6120 Grove St. It includes an invocation, remarks by Mayor Jon Nehring, and a bell ceremony honoring first responders who perished in the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.

In Marysville, this program is especially meaningful because Marysville Fire Lt. Jeff Thornton lost his life to cancer that same day. Many of Lt. Thornton’s colleagues and his family join this annual ceremony in his honor.

For more information, contact the Marysville Fire District at 360-363-8500.
