Marysville PD opens applications for 2017 Citizens' Academy

Want to get an up-close look at local law enforcement? Applications are now open for the Citizens’ Academy starting Thursday, Feb. 2.

The Marysville Police Department will present Citizens’ Academy classes from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on 12 consecutive Thursday evenings, Feb. 2-April 20. Classes cover nearly every facet of law enforcement including criminal law, patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, drug recognition, the investigative process, K-9 patrol, and ride-a-longs with a patrol officer.

The most important benefit of these classes is the interaction and information exchanged between citizen students and the many officers involved in the training.

Application is open to people and 18 years and older who live, work or attend school within Marysville city limits. Applicants agree to a background check. There is no cost.

Get an application online at http://www.marysvillewa.gov/162/Police or at the Marysville Police Department, 1635 Grove St.  Applications must be received by Jan. 20.

For more information, contact Commander Wendy Wade (360-363-8322 or wwade@marysvillewa.gov) or Officer Stacey Dreyer (360-363-8300 or sdreyer@marysvillewa.gov).
